Music & Me

Hey! My name is Joan and I am very excited to move forward with this class. I'm from Spain and I am currently studying at Converse University. I am a sophtmore and my major is Sports Management. Besides studying I also play soccer since I was 5 years old, it is a sport that makes me happy and isolates me from daily problems and stress. In my free time I like to go out for a walk with friends or go for a drink. I consider myself a sociable person so I like to be surrounded by people. I have a younger brother who lives with my family in Spain. I have always enjoyed listening to music and I think that's why this class will be very interesting.

1- My go to song:

It's complicated for me to have to choose only one song since I like different styles of music and many different songs. But right now my favorite song is "Neverita" by Bad Bunny. It's in Spanish and what I like the most about the song is the beat and how it changes during the playback. Besides, I choose this song because it reminds me of when we used to dance together with my friends during the summer in Spain.

2- A Meaningful song:

My meaningful song is "Viva la vida" by Coldplay. It has so much meaning for me because I remember that my father was very fond of Coldplay songs and whenever he accompanied me to school in the car he always played Coldplay songs, especially the one I mentioned above. Listening to it today is like being transported back to 10 years ago and that makes me very happy.

3- Music I don't really connect with:

One type of music that no matter how much I listen to it, I have never liked is "heavy metal". I think they scream a lot of nonsense and it is very hard for me to finish a complete song of this genre. But I respect people who like it as a matter of course. This song is called "Fire power" by Judas Priest.

  1. Hi! I also love "Viva la Vida"! My dad used to play this song all the time when I was younger. I am also not a fan of heavy metal. Probably the closest I'll ever get is Imagine Dragons with their pop rock songs.
